Ingredients

Mustard Cream Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 2½ Tbsp SNickleFritz Kitchens Oktoberfest Mustard – use our Jalapeño Oktoberfest for a little zip!

  • 2 tsp parsley

  • 2 tsp thyme

  • 1 fresh sprig rosemary

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Hasselback Bratwurst & Mashed Potatoes

  • 6 bratwursts

  • Slice diagonal cuts down the length of each brat, being careful not to cut all the way through

  • 4 Russet potatoes

  • 2 Tbsp butter

  • ½ cup milk

Directions

1. Make the Mustard Cream Sauce

In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, butter, mustard, parsley, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil while stirring continuously until the sauce thickens. Refridgerate if making ahead.

2. Make the Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes. Place them in salted water and boil until fork tender.  Drain and mash with the butter and milk until smooth and creamy.

3. Grill the Bratwurst

Grill the Hasselback bratwursts over medium heat, turning occasionally until fully cooked. Remove from the grill and set aside.

5. Assemble

Spoon the mashed potatoes onto each plate. Place a grilled bratwurst on top and generously drizzle with the warm mustard cream sauce.

Optional Serving Suggestions

🥬 Serve with roasted vegetables, sautéed green beans, or traditional sauerkraut.

Chef's Tip 💡

The creamy mustard sauce also makes an incredible vegetarian gravy substitute for mashed potatoes during holiday meals!

You can leave the skins on the potatoes for a more rustic dish.
